Indeed, the thresholds for what is considered “too much” can differ from one individual to another. Your stress tolerance may also vary depending on your past experiences, physical well-being, and surroundings.

 

You used to be unaffected by fast-paced workplaces with lots of noise. However, you have observed that your sensitivity to stimulation has heightened following a car accident where you sustained a concussion. To effectively manage your stress levels, it is important to take more frequent breaks and ensure that you have enough downtime at home. You can also consider finding work environments that are less stimulating, which would help you avoid encountering as many triggers.

 

Simultaneously, symptoms of stress might be a sign of a more serious underlying issue. Signs of depression can have a significant impact on various aspects of your life, including your job and self-perception. However, by doing so, you will expand your professional experience and acquire a wider range of skills that will benefit you in future opportunities.   


  • Habits That Support Your Goals

Your work performance is influenced by every aspect of your well-being. You are more than just the label of your job and the tasks you perform to earn a living. However, the work you do each day is influenced by your personal identity. If your personal habits are hindering your progress, it may be a good idea to align them with your professional goals.

 

For instance, maybe you don’t manage to get the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep. You tend to stay up late watching TV and sometimes forget to turn it off before going to bed. Not getting enough rest can lead to difficulty concentrating and increased irritability. During your commute, you are more likely to experience road rage, and at work, you may be more prone to forgetfulness. Setting a specific time to turn off the TV can enhance your sleep and help you better handle the tasks of the day.

 

Developing new habits can be a time-consuming process, but it’s important to stay committed and be kind to yourself along the way. The time it takes for routines to become established can vary, as some routines may take longer than others to become a habit. For example, it typically takes about six months to transition from not exercising at all to engaging in regular physical activity. It typically takes only a few weeks of practice for simpler habits to become routine. If you continue to make an effort and understand that setbacks are normal but temporary, you will eventually be able to develop the behaviors you desire.
